This will give you an idea of what a Legacy Interview looks like and some of the topics that are discussed.
A Legacy Interview is one of the most comprehensive ways of preserving the life and story of a loved one. Why is this?
A Legacy Interview gives your loved one the space and time to expound on their story, memories they hold dear, and values that have shaped them. Traditional methods of preserving a loved one’s legacy are through photos, scrapbooks, letters/writings, and family heirlooms. These methods all have their place but inevitably leave out important elements relating to your loved one.
For example, scrapbooks can show meaningful photos and communicate information effectively regarding a family’s past but they lack a level of affability that seeing and hearing your loved one’s story from their own mouth gives. It is much easier for humans to be moved and connect with someone you can see and hear rather than simply read or look at photos of.
What To Expect
Here are the different ways we can honor your loved one through a Legacy Interview.
Conversational Authentic Interview
Often times there is an uncomfortability with being filmed. When someone is uncomfortable you don’t see important aspects of their personality and their responses tend to lack the depth or fullness that would otherwise exist. This is why we have a conversational approach to each interview. People don’t feel uncomfortable when they are simply talking with a friend so we aim to make it as friendly and natural as possible.
Comprehensive Approach
We plan out and pre-approve each topic and question with the loved one(s) being interviewed. We discuss what elements should be focused on and what elements would be significant for future family members living 200 years from now.
High-Production Value Look and Feel
Each interview is shot with multiple 4k cameras, professional sound and lighting equipment. This helps ensure that your loved one looks and sounds their best during the interview.
Include Photos, B-Roll, or Other Elements
Each family has the option to include relevant assets like photos corresponding to what is being referenced in the interview. Or other elements that help tell the story and encapsulate what is being said.
