What is the focus?
The focus is on significant events in your family’s story, family values, individual family members, and everything in between.
There are two approaches to family history documentaries: a themed-approach and a general approach.
A themed-approach will focus on the themes throughout your family’s history. Some families have rich backgrounds in agricultural farming or a strong emphasis on hospitality and generosity. The main advantage is a family can talk about their history and focus on the aspects that were most significant to them.
The general approach takes a look at your family’s history from a much more general view. Many more topics are talked about it but the documentary will feel more informational and less like a story. Each family has differences in preferences.
How Does It Work?
We use video interviews from family members, photos, scrapbooks, re-enactments, b-roll, geographical maps, and other elements to accurately and engagingly walk through your family's history through a documentary.
What Should I Expect?
Here are aspects to consider.
Comprehensive And Flexible
Some family’s have a vast amount of history surrounding them. Some families have very little known history. You have the flexibility to go as far back in your family’s story as possible. Or if you would like to focus on this current generation of family members, that is your prerogative.
Individual Video Interviews
Along with the Family History Documentary, you’ll receive the full-length unedited interviews with the family members.
Digitalizing Tapes, Photos, Etc.
If you have old family history heirlooms that are collecting dust and deteriorating, we can help digitalize them.
Permanent Backups
We can create permanent backups of all the files associated with this project. This way nothing is ever lost and forgotten.
Every family has different areas that are important to them. The ways we can help honor and preserve your loved one’s story is customizable to the specific needs of a family and the service.
